Get Involved

To get involved, you need to become qualified in the Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion. Usually, our youth members train to become lifesavers as part of the Crusaders program, but we welcome members of any age to start their journey to Bronze Medallion as a rewarding achievement, demonstrating fitness, first aid, rescue principles and teamwork.

To get qualified, check out our fantastic training opportunities. We provide regular training sessions for new members and members seeking requalification each year. Members who need to requalify must do so by 31 December each year to be able to join the patrol roster.

Once qualified, members are encouraged to join the patrol roster, joining a team to work various weekend days throughout summer to contribute valuable waterway monitoring to the local community. Members can add themselves to the patrol roster via the <Member’s Hub>. The patrol roster doesn’t stop you from attending other events such as carnival volunteering, first aid, age managing, training or skills maintenance. If you need to seek help for replacing your rostered spot, visit the <Members’ Hub> for a link to the Facebook Secret harbour SLSC Patrolling members group where you can seek a replacement volunteer, and Member’s Portal where you can log your absence.
